How to Sign NSFAS LAF or SOP

The National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) is a South African government agency that provides financial assistance to students who cannot afford to pay for their education. To qualify for NSFAS funding, students must sign a Loan Agreement Form (LAF) or a Statement of Purpose (SOP).

The LAF is a legal document that outlines the terms and conditions of the loan, including the interest rate, repayment period, and late payment fees. The SOP is a personal statement that describes the student’s financial need and academic goals.

To sign a Loan Agreement Forms (LAFs) and Schedules of Particulars (SOP), LAFs/ SOP, a student can simply visit the NSFAS website –, click of the SIGN YOUR LAF/SOP Link, then enters an ID number into the search engine. Then details will appear on the screen.

To sign your NSFAS LAF or SOP, you can follow these steps:

  1. Go to the NSFAS website and log in to your account.
  2. Click on the “Sign your LAF/SOP” link.
  3. Enter your ID number and click on the “Search” button.
  4. You will receive a One Time Pin (OTP) either as an email or SMS.
  5. Enter the OTP and click on the “Submit” button.
  6. Read the LAF or SOP and agree to the terms and conditions by clicking on the checkbox.
  7. Click on the “Sign” button.
  8. Your signature will be saved and you will be able to view it on your account.

If you are under the age of 18, your parent or legal guardian will need to sign your LAF or SOP for you.

  • Make sure that you have a good internet connection.
  • Have your ID number and OTP ready.
  • Read the LAF or SOP carefully before signing it.

When finished, you will receive a notification on the screen that the Terms and Conditions have been submitted. This means you have successfully signed your NSFAS bursary agreement. Your parent or legal guardian should sign for you if you are under the age of 18.
